Filters Earn EPA Approval for Reducing Coliform Bacteria

The media reduces coliform bacteria in storm water, industrial wastewater and municipal wastewater applications

FabGuard media used in Fabco’s StormBasin, StormSafe and patented Helix treatment systems has been approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for reducing coliform bacteria in storm water, industrial wastewater and municipal wastewater applications.

Fabco Industries has spent more than 15 years developing and manufacturing water filtration products for businesses and communities looking to reduce pollutants from storm water and wastewater flows.

John Markee, Fabco VP of Sales and Marketing, is enthusiastic. “FabGuard is a new Fabco development that complements our other filter media products,” said John Markee, vice president of sales and marketing for Fabco. “Its unique physical properties allow sustained high flow rates while still providing exceptional treatment of coliform bacteria. For example, when FabGuard is applied to our Helix filters, relatively compact systems can effectively treat large volumes of water.”

Efficacy testing of FabGuard performed at flow rates ranging from 10 to 100 gal per minute has confirmed reduction of both E. coli and Enterococcus in the 70$ to 99% range.
