East Palestine train derailment settlement announced

Over a year ago a Norfolk Southern train carrying chemicals derailed in East Palestine, Ohio. Water and wastewater systems along the Ohio River took action to protect their drinking water sources and monitor their wastewater outfalls.

Last week, U.S. EPA announced a $310 million settlement with Norfolk Southern to address the contamination and pay for the damages caused to the communities surrounding the derailment. Read the lead news article below for more on the details.
