Thickening Centrifuge Wins WEF Innovative Technology Award
Centrisys Corp.'s THK thickening system has earned a 2013 Innovative Technology Award from the Water Environment Federation (WEF).
The WEF Innovative Technology Awards will be presented at the organization’s 86th annual Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC), Oct. 5 to 9, 2013 in Chicago.
“This award further validates the results we’ve achieved with the THK in terms of cost savings, efficiency and performance,” said Kopper. “Our team is proud of this design and eager to keep solving industry challenges, innovating and helping customers improve their operations.”
The THK thickening system is a departure from conventional centrifuges. The system offers greater process flexibility and produces the most controlled levels of cake solids as needed for each individual installation without requiring expensive polymers. As a result, wastewater treatment facilities can save about $140,000 annually per each dry ton of solids, with a return on investment of 2.5 years due to polymer savings alone.
The Innovative Technology Awards recognize advancements in the collection systems, instrumentation, process equipment and solids handling and disposal categories. They are presented annually to WEF associate members that have introduced new, innovative products or services related to the construction, operation or maintenance of treatment facilities.
