Successful Applications of Anaerobic Membrane Bioreactors for Treating Food Processing Wastewater
The ADI anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) process incorporates anaerobic digestion and membrane filtration in one simple process. It is well-suited for treating food processing wastewater that contains high concentrations of biodegradable organics, suspended solids and some fat, oil and grease. This system can treat wastewater to a level such that the effluent can be discharged to the local publicly owned treatment works in a single step.
This paper, prepared by ADI Systems, will feature case studies on successful AnMBR systems located at Ken’s Foods, a confectionery manufacturing plant and the Kellogg Company. It will also discuss the technical challenges in treating the selected wastewaters and highlight the operating data and performance of the AnMBR systems.
