We are now truly well and into the summer, and well past the May 1 date that President Joe Biden said he’d want all American adults vaccinated. Communities across the country are beginning to open up, and that means we’ll see more live events, more conferences and more work travel showing up on our calendars. But how eager are water professionals to return to those events?

Well, WWD surveyed its audience to determine just that earlier this year. Of the 85 responses received 75% said they were willing to travel at the time the survey was conducted (April 5 to April 19). Additionally, 82% of respondents indicated they would feel comfortable traveling for work in Q2 and Q3 at the earliest. This bodes well for events toward the end of Q3 and beginning of Q4, such as The Utility Expo and WEFTEC.

Speaking of those events, Water & Wastes Digest and its supplement Storm Water Solutions are hosting a Water Pavilion at The Utility Expo Sept. 28 to 30 in Louisville, Kentucky. We’ve got a strong educational line-up in the works with 42 professional development hours on offer and a 3,000 square foot exhibit space for product demonstrations and manufacturer booths. Registration is now open and we hope you will join us at the Kentucky Exposition Center this September! Visit www.sgcwaterpavilion.com for more information about this space, the educational track and exhibitors.

If we do not see you there, I hope we can connect at WEFTEC in October! As always, WWD will be announcing its WWD Top Projects at a special event the first night of WEFTEC. We’ve received and are evaluating the submissions for consideration and are very excited to share the winners with you later this year.

As a reminder, our Top Projects program accepts nominations year-round. So no matter when you submit, your project will always be considered. The same goes for our Young Professionals and Industry Icon programs. Nominate for any or all of these programs at wwdmag.com/nominations.
