Hach Announces New Water Analysis Kit for Hydraulic Fracturing
Hach Co. has announced the new Hydraulic Fracturing Water Analysis Kit. Offering onsite results in an easy-to-use, rugged, portable case, the kit covers key parameters critical to water analysis in oil and gas applications, including source water, fracturing fluid, flowback water, produced water, drilling fluids and enhanced oil recovery.
Hach’s team of chemists have developed, tested and published step-by-step procedures designed specifically for samples encountered in hydraulic fracturing water applications with extended concentration ranges for critical parameters. These methods outline everything users need to perform each test either in the field or in the lab.
Field studies were conducted to validate Hach’s new methods, including field and laboratory research studies on hydraulic fracturing being performed at the Global Petroleum Research Institute (GPRI) at Texas A&M University-College Station. Due to the interferences encountered in analyzing various types of waters, GPRI was in need of modified methods to provide accurate and reliable results.
The kit includes a DR/890 colorimeter, HQ40d digital meter, a digital titrator and reagents for critical parameters, such as alkalinity, bacteria, barium, chloride, conductivity, hardness, iron, pH and sulfate. Additional parameters such as boron may be added as needed.
