Jane Tran was recognized for her skills on projects that significantly impact public welfare or further professional development & growth

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has named Jane Tran one of its New Faces of Engineering. According to the ASCE, the honor “recognizes the outstanding talents, skills and abilities our next generation of engineering leaders (age 30 or younger) have shown on projects that significantly impact public welfare or further professional development and growth.”

Based in Los Angeles, Tran is a structural designer with Hatch Mott MacDonald (HMM). Among her projects was the conceptual design of the California High-Speed Rail project in 2012. Tran was responsible for overseeing the production of more than 200 conceptual engineering drawings for rail and road bridges in Southern California.

Earlier this year, the ASCE Metropolitan Los Angeles Branch presented Tran with its 2014 Outstanding Younger Civil Engineer Award, saying, “Her commitment and enthusiasm for our profession and for advocating the importance of professional activities, community and ASCE involvement makes her an invaluable member of our Civil Engineering community.”

The ASCE will recognize Tran and other New Faces during Engineers Week, which begins Feb. 16, 2015.

She will also be honored at the ASCE’s annual Outstanding Projects and Leaders (OPAL) Gala on March 26, 2015, in Arlington, Va. Nick DeNichilo, President and CEO of HMM, will receive the OPAL Lifetime Achievement award for management at the same event.
