Waggoner Approved as a Brownfield Consulting Firm

Nov. 13, 2015
Brownfield sites are defined as “abandoned, idled or underused industrial and commercial properties where expansion or redevelopment is complicated by real or perceived environmental contamination.”

Waggoner Eng., a full-service economic development, program management and engineering firm, has been approved as a Brownfield Consulting Firm by the Mississippi Commission on Environmental Quality.

The federal government defines Brownfield sites as “abandoned, idled or underused industrial and commercial properties where expansion or redevelopment is complicated by real or perceived environmental contamination.”

Waggoner is now endorsed to provide services in association with the redevelopment of such sites. These services include solving clients’ Brownfield redevelopment challenges by assisting local governments, nonprofits and developers in identifying and obtaining funding sources for the assessment, cleanup and redevelopment of these environmentally challenged properties.

“We are honored to be a part of revitalizing sites in our community that would otherwise be sitting vacant and underutilized,” said Joe Waggoner, P.E., founder and CEO of Waggoner Eng. “Brownfield sites are big projects to undertake, and we are excited we now have the approval and resources to tackle these challenging properties.”
