A. O. Smith Corp. & The Water Council Partner for Global Technology Challenge

June 16, 2016
Challenge supports entrepreneurs & startups in developing freshwater technologies

A. O. Smith Corp. and The Water Council are partnering to identify and support entrepreneurs and startups developing freshwater technologies through a global technology challenge: BREW Corporate: Powered by A. O. Smith.

Recipients will receive a minimum investment of $50,000 from A. O. Smith as well as tuition to participate in The Water Council’s 12-month accelerator program beginning the week of Sept. 12. Recipients will receive support and mentoring from A. O. Smith engineers and business development staff. They will also have access to A. O. Smith research labs and space in the Global Water Center in Milwaukee.

This technology challenge focuses on three areas of interest to A. O. Smith:

Water purification – Higher efficiency reverse osmosis technologies to prevent fouling and scaling, cost-effective salt- and additive-free water softening technologies, and advanced residential and light commercial water treatment technologies for the removal of heavy metals, organic chemical and microbiological contaminants.
Water heating – Technologies that improve the energy efficiency of a non-powered atmospheric water heater, and technologies and products that increase thermal energy storage in water heaters without reducing the life of the heater.
Sensors – Cost-effective, real-time heavy-metal sensor technologies and advanced water flow sensor technologies for micro to medium flow applications.

The deadline for applications is 11:59 CDT Wednesday, July 20. Recipients will be notified in early August.
