NanoH2O Awarded Order for Palmachim Desalination Plant

Feb. 18, 2013
The company’s membranes are set to produce 110,000 cu meters per day of desalinated water at Palmachim

NanoH2O Inc. announced that it has been selected by Via Maris Desalination Ltd. to provide QuantumFlux (Qfx) high rejection membranes for the expansion of the Palmachim Desalination plant in Israel. Via Maris Desalination Ltd., owner and operator of the Palmachim plant, purchased QuantumFlux high rejection membranes for an existing 36,000 cu meter capacity seawater reverse osmosis (RO) train in 2012 and will commission two additional trains in 2013. These three trains will produce a combined total of 110,000 cu meters of potable water per day.

“After one year of small scale pilot tests and eight months of full scale operation of the initial 36,000 cubic meter per day train, the high rejection QuantumFlux membranes from NanoH2O provided us with the best performance we ever experienced,” said Avner Hermony, Palmachim Desalination plant manager for Via Maris Desalination, a subsidiary of Global Environmental Solutions (GES). “Given that experience, we will now add two more trains of Qfx membranes by the end of 2013.”

“This is a significant milestone for our company,” said Nicholas Dyner, vice president of sales and marketing for NanoH2O. “Within a year of our official launch into the membrane desalination market, we have demonstrated impressive acceleration in product development and manufacturing capacity. Palmachim is one of the ten largest seawater RO plants in the world and we are honored to have been chosen as a membrane supplier and to assist Palmachim in their expansion efforts.”
