Evoqua Acquires Neptune Benson

Evoqua Water Technologies has announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire privately held Neptune Benson, a manufacturer of water filtration and disinfection products for the recreational, industrial and municipal water markets. Neptune Benson’s filtration and ultraviolet disinfection products can be found in more than 20,000 installations worldwide, covering 45 countries. Terms were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close this spring and is subject to customary regulatory approvals.

This addition is a natural fit for us and consistent with our growth plan to double our business by the end of 2021.”

Junius and Raymond Gertz founded Neptune Benson as a residential and small commercial pool company in 1956. The company later shifted its focus to filtration systems for institutional pools larger than 250,000 gal. Over the years, it experienced strong growth through the introduction of new products such as the Defender regenerative media filter and with acquisitions such as Lawson Aquatics (a manufacturer of main drain and rim-flow system components), ETS-UV (a developer and manufacturer of ultraviolet disinfection systems), the ProStrainer product line and Sonitec filtration products for industrial process markets.

Neptune Benson has 110 employees across four operations in Coventry, R.I.; Beaver Dam, Wisc.; Bridgeport, Conn., and Montreal, QC, Canada. Its leading brands include the Defender regenerative media filter, the ETS-UV disinfection system, Vortisand and Legacy sand filters, AEGIS anti-entrapment shields, Dominion butterfly valves, Guardian strainers, Greendrive VFD systems and Lawson Aquatics accessories. Ken Rodi, CEO of Neptune Benson, will become a member of Evoqua’s leadership team and will report to Keating.
