Expansion Planned at California Industrial Water Treatment and Reuse Facility

The facility is California’s first for merchants and will double its production capacity

The Wasco Treatment Plant in Bakersfield, Calif., has announced plans to expand its facility. The plant is the first merchant facility in the state and allows for the treatment and reuse of water for oilfield operations. MembranePRO Services and Watershed Tech Services celebrated their plans to double the production capacity of the facility.

The celebration of the expansion included a tour of the facility, discussion regarding the new technologies utilized by the plant and a ribbon-cutting ceremony to demarcate the next phase of life for the facility.

The plant implements artificial intelligence and membrane technologies in unison to optimize the operations of the plant. The facility mainly services nearby companies in the oil and gas, and agriculture industries, which can significantly reduce freshwater use through the capabilities of the plant.

The celebration of the expansion took place on Thursday May 17, 2018, and included industry representatives, as well as local and state government representatives.
