Australian Desalination Plant Produces First Drinking Water
Australia’s largest desalination plant has produced its first drinking water after an initial performance test, according to bloomberg.com.
According to a statement by Thiess Degremont, production of drinking water that meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines will increase in the coming months and the plant, located near Melbourne, will be running at full capacity by the end of the year.
In 2009, Thiess Degremont won a 30-year government contract to build the plant in partnership with Aquashare.
When completed, the plant will meet 30% of Melbourne’s water needs.
