McLaughlin Water Eng. (MWE), a division of Merrick & Co., was selected to provide Phase I preliminary design services for the rehabilitation of an existing 3-million gal concrete potable water tank in Louisville, Colo.
The prestressed roof has severely deteriorated and is being supported by interior falsework. A critical part of the study involves geotechnical evaluation of the pier supports and analysis of walls and floor to evaluate reusability in the improvement project.
This tank receives treated water from Louisville’s 8 million gallon-per-day plant and governs the city’s downtown base pressure zone. Either a rehab or replacement program will have to be designed to maintain service.
