Cybercrime spending makes it the third largest economy in the world behind the United States and China.

The world of cybercrime is so large that if it were considered a country, it would be the third largest economy in the world behind the United States and China, according to Cybercrime Magazine. The U.S. federal government has made strides in 2021 to prioritize cybersecurity protections across sectors, including water and wastewater.

Tom Kirkham is the CEO, founder and current CISO of Irontech Security. Kirkham explains why cybersecurity matters for water utilities, even those with some of the smallest distribution networks. He highlights the value of cybersecurity for engineers and consultants, and lastly makes a call for changing the culture of cybersecurity throughout society.
